What is Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a style of bodywork that uses sustained gentle, but firm pressure to the fascia. The goal of Myofascial Release is to eliminate pain and restore function of the tissue, fascia. Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports our bodies. Its health and flexibility is key to our well being and our ability to perform the activities we would like to do.  When it becomes injured through trauma, whether physical or emotional, it tightens down in response.

Tight fascial restrictions pull on the rest of the interconnected web causing our bodies to move in misalignment. Over time, this will create compensation and pain.  Where we experience pain may not always be where the restrictions are.

Information gets stuck in the fascia when it tightens down.  Memories, emotions and toxins get locked into these places.  When they are released, we have an opportunity to let go of all of the things we've been holding onto that are related to the injury or trauma. This creates a very holistic and profound healing experience.

Brooke will assess your body by sight to see where the lines of tension are coming from. Myofascial techniques are applied without the use of oil so you may bring shorts and a sports bra or something you feel comfortable being assessed in and getting treatment in. By looking at your whole body and working with the restrictions we see and feel we can create permanent structural change and prevent further problems in the future.
